COVID 19 AND NATURE

The covid 19 is a respiratory disease that affects the normal breathing system of an individual. The disease has emerged as a pandemic in the year 2020. It has seen to affect alot of individuals and nature itself. From social to economic, the pandemic has caused much changes. It has really affected the world's economy causing a lot of individual and company to lose their profits and experience lose. In the case of nature, the pandemic has also brought positive and negative effects.c Ecosystems in nature function similarly to the human body: When they are robust and healthy — which means they have diverse species and space for healthy animal populations — they are less likely to be sources of disease. As the global wildlife trade persists and human activities expand deeper into tropical forests, humans are increasing their exposure to wild animals and the diseases they may carry. When mining and logging degrade or destroy wildlife habitats, animals are forced into different or smal...

FISH IN OUR WORLD

Fish are a class of aquatic vertebrates. The combination of gills, fins and the fact that they live in water makes them different from the other animals. Fish are cold blooded animals hence they live in water with the expectation of tuna and mackerel shark families. Scientists group fish in three main groups, they are divided in these groups because of the structure of their mouth and the type of skeleton they have. These  are jawless fish, cartilaginous fish and bony fishes. The main characteristics of fish are, they use gills in breathing, their bodies are covered with scales, they use fins for movement, they all live in water and lastly they are cold get blooded animals or they are ectothermic.

TYPES OF DOMESTICATED CATS

Image
There are over 200 types of domestic cat breeds, we will focus on the ten best. olydactyl © ckellyphoto/Fotolia Let’s be real, polydactyl cats give the best high-fives. Errr, high-sixes. Also known as "mitten cats" or "thumb cats," polydactyls have a genetic mutation that gives them more than the usual number of toes on one or more feet. Polydactyl cats can have anywhere from six to eight toes per paw. The extra toes sometimes make them look like their paws have thumbs. While polydactyly can happen in many different animals (including humans), it’s arguably cutest in cats. Writer  Ernest Hemingway certainly thought so—he himself was a polydactyl owner, and the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum is now home to some 50 polydactyl cats. DOMETICATED CATS

Domestic cats, no matter their breed, are all members of one species.   Relationship with Humans Felis catus has had a very long relationship with humans. Ancient Egyptians may have first domesticated cats as early as 4,000 years ago. Plentiful rodents probably drew wild felines to human communities. The cats' skill in killing them may have first earned the affectionate attention of humans. Early Egyptians worshipped a cat goddess and even mummified their beloved pets for their journey to the next world—accompanied by mummified mice! Cultures around the world later adopted cats as their own companions. Hunting Abilities Like their wild relatives, domestic cats are natural hunters able to stalk prey and pounce with sharp claws and teeth. They are particularly effective at night, when their light-reflecting eyes allow them to see better than much of their prey. Cats also enjoy acute hearing. All cats are nimble and agile, and their long ...

TIGER

Image
The tiger is the largest member of the felid (cat) family. They sport long, thick reddish coats with white bellies and white and black tails. Their heads, bodies, tails and limbs have narrow black, brown or gray stripes. There were once nine subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indochinese, South Chinese, Sumatran, Malayan, Caspian, Javan and Bali. Of these, the last three are extinct, one is extinct in the wild, and the rest are endangered. Diet Tigers mainly eat ambar deer, wild pigs, water buffalo and antelope. Tigers are also known to hunt sloth bears, dogs, leopards, crocodiles and pythons as well as monkeys and hares. Old and injured tigers have been known to attack humans and domestic cattle. Population In the early 1900s, there were around 100,000 tigers throughout their range. Today, an estimated total of around 3,000-4,500 exist in the wild. Below is a breakdown of tiger numbers...

CHEETAH

Image
Cheetah , ( Acinonyx jubatus ), one of the world’s most-recognizable cats, known especially for its speed. Cheetahs’ sprints have been measured at a maximum of 114 km (71 miles) per hour, and they routinely reach velocities of 80–100 km per hour while pursuing prey. Nearly all the cheetahs remaining in the wild live in Africa. Cheetahs are covered almost entirely with small black spots on a background of pale yellow and have a white underbelly. Their faces are distinguished by prominent black lines that curve from the inner corner of each eye to the outer corners of the mouth, like a well-worn trail of inky tears. Cheetahs have a long, slender body measuring 1.2 metres (4 feet), with a long tail (65–85 cm [2–3 feet]) that generally ends in a white tuft. They are about 75 cm tall at the shoulder. Weight ranges from 34 to 54 kg (75 to 119 pounds), males being slightly larger than females. HABITAT AND  CONSERVATION STATUS x Cheetahs are found across Africa, primarily in northern ...

LEOPARD AS A CAT

Image
Leopard , ( Panthera pardus ), formerly  pard  or  pardus , also called  panther , large  cat  closely related to the  lion ,  tiger , and  jaguar . The name  leopard  was originally given to the cat now called  cheetah —the so-called hunting leopard—which was once thought to be a cross between the lion and the pard. The term  pard  was eventually replaced by the name  leopard . Where do leopards live? These big cats tend to favor rocky landscapes with dense bush and riverine forests, but they have also shown to be highly adaptable to many places in both warm and cold climates. They occur in a wide range of habitats, from deserts and semi-desert regions of southern Africa to arid regions of North Africa to savanna grasslands of East and southern Africa to mountainous environments on Mt. Kenya to the rainforests of West and Central Africa and even in urban and suburban parts of sub-Saharan Africa. The l...
